Due to continuous heavy rainfall triggered by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and weather advisories issued by PAGASA, Malacañang has officially released Memorandum Circular No. 127, directing government offices and schools across Metro Manila and several Central and Southern Luzon provinces to transition to alternative arrangements starting at 12:00 PM today, August 17, 2026.

• Coverage Areas:

  • National Capital Region (NCR)

  • Central Luzon: Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales

  • CALABARZON & MIMAROPA: Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro

• Government Offices: Directed to shift to appropriate alternative work arrangements starting at 12:00 noon.

• Schools: Implementation of alternative learning modalities for all levels in both public and private institutions, unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives (LCEs).

• Vital Services Exemption: Agencies handling basic and health services, disaster preparedness, response operations, and other emergency functions will remain fully operational.

• Private Sector: Decisions regarding work suspensions or remote/hybrid work setups remain under the discretion of individual company management.
